Last month I’d asked Greg (Zigory) about posting some of his favorite Halloween films since he seems to have good music and film suggestions on his blog. 🙂
And he came up with quite a list! He wrote that Mrs. Zigory (his wife) suggests “Arsenic and Old Lace”. God, what a fabulous movie! Halloween isn’t right without watching it! … The crazy old aunts, strangers coming in to the home and strange things happening, and of course… the hilarious “Teddy”!

As I was hanging out with my family over the weekend watching “The Office“ (season 2) and discussing Halloween movies, we decided to create a list to share as well. Some are also listed on Greg’s list (and there are a number I’ve added to our rental list). Â

Our list is in no specific order, other than the fact that I have placed “Arsenic and Old Lace” at the top.

1. “Arsenic and Old Lace”
2. “Saturday the 14th
3. “Shaun of the Dead” (You will come away laughing!)
4. “Young Frankenstein“ (The whole cast is amazing! Madeline Kahn is unforgettable!)
5. “Bram Stoker’s Dracula“ (Beautifully filmed! The first movie I’d ever seen Gary Oldman star in – and is he ever talented!!!)
6. “The Cell“ (What some twisted human beings are capable of… much less the whole plot of this movie …gives me nightmares)
7. “Nightmare Before Christmas“ (Tim Burton is terrific and the music by Danny Elfman is brilliant!)
8. “Hocus Pocus“ (Funny! Good for the whole family)
9. “The Witches of Eastwick“ (Another hilarious film! I couldn’t eat cherries for a while there myself.)
10. “The Others“ (I really like Nicole Kidman anyway, and this film is verrry creepy! A surprise ending)
11. “Identity“ (Another psychological thriller. The story is strange and shocking.)
12. “Burnt Offerings“Â (I haven’t seen this one in years, but remember the nightmares it gave me as a kid.)
13. “The Andromeda Strain”
14. “The Thing
15. “Frankenthumb“ (This is one of our family “Thumb” favorites done by Steve Oedekerk. “Let’s get the torches!”)
16. “The Omen“ (My husband would love a rottweiler. The dogs scared me so much in this movie as a kid – that there is no way!)
17. “Rosemary’s Baby”
18. “The Birds
19. “Psycho
20. “The Shining“ (I borrowed the book – wasn’t supposed to have – so I sort of snuck reading it when I was a little girl. Not a good idea for a kid to read – much less see the movie.)
